July 7th 2007 • Light of Christ Awards

Two CubScouts from DEN 5 and 7 with Father Parochial Vicar Rob Cole at St. Bede's.

The boys had been recognized for receiving the Light of Christ emblem.

Light of Christ Awards are given in special recognition by the Catholic Church to a Cub Scout for advancement in religious knowledge and spiritual  growth.

Both Scouts have completed the requirements of study and service for the awards and has earned the right and privilege of wearing the Light of Christ emblem in recognition of his accomplishment.

The Light of Christ emblem is a medal depicting a young Scout with his eyes  fixed on the lit candle which represents Christ. On the candle are the initials Alpha and Omega, Greek letters meaning the beginning and end.

The inscription 'Light of Christ' is on a bar pin over the Christ candle.

The emblems are worn over the left pocket.

THANK YOU to everyone who made our spring-campout such a fantastic time.
Erin Gray and Reed Johnson made the whole thing possible. Erin even ran out to get more S'more material LATE Saturday so a sibling could have some more. And all den leaders kept the events moving smoothly.
I've already had some of our newer parents ask when the next campout will be .... .

District Pinewood Derby Race • March 24th 07

A HUGE THANKS to those of you who gave up your Friday night time and/or Saturday morning time to run a fantastic First Colony Pinewood Derby regional.

Erin Gray, Jack Lemmon and his wife, Jim Murtha, Bob Winger, and Jim Brown were indispensible, professional and positive during the whole event Saturday, and Peggy Miller was there to lend supervision and experience.
Also thanks to Steve Tross for coming out and helping Friday Night!

A lot of packs were impressed with our new computer program and electronic timing - the difference between 1st place and 2nd place in the regional was .001 of a second (after each car went down the track a total of 9 times).
